Benefits of a facial
Working with a licensed skin care professional has many benefits that know one will ever see like peace of mind and relaxation. Facials allow another human to get really close and ask lots of questions about what your skin is telling the world about you.
Adding professional facials to your skin care regime can
- Improve skin tone and texture
- Reduce acne & acne scarring
- Treat hyperpigmentation
- Improve skin barrier function
An esthetician doesn't just care for the skin on your face, your esthetician understands skin as an organ. The job of the licensed esthetician is to work with you and the rest of your self care team to maintain the health and beauty of the skin. All of it, head to toe.
Facials at The CurlsSpa
The CurlSpa offers traditional European style facials that are customized with products that suite each individual client's needs. Facials can be scheduled according to time in 30, 60 and 90 minute increments.
You will not a find a list of "types of facial" because each facial is customized with products specific to each client only after a thorough consultation and skin analysis.
I also offer chemical peels, these are not available for scheduling online. You must be an established client with a consistent facial history to have a chemical peel.
How often should you have a facial?
Facials should be part of your monthly maintenance regime unless you are doing treatment work. In that case you may be coming in as often as every 10-14 days for a certain number of visits.
If you are unable to commit to once a month, once a season is also good. The important thing is to have someone else look at your skin on a regular basis. This is especially important when you are pre-disposed to certain conditions like acne, hyperpigmentation and skin cancer.
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a treatment facial that focuses on cellular level exfoliation via enzymes, AHA's and BHA's to instigate cell turnover. Following the peel you will have treatment products applied that align with your skin care goals as well as a strict home care regime.
A chemical peel is considered "treatment work" and results are best seen when your do them in a series of three or six visits in conjunction with an appropriate skin care regime at home.
Properly preparing the skin for treatment work is crucial and why I will not allow them to be scheduled online. Skin must be "worked" up to having professional level peels. Chemical Peels are best done in the colder less sunny months to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.

Makeup Lessons
Makeup is so fun and when your skin is well taken care of it's even better. I offer makeup lessons where I educate the learner on the importance of properly caring for the skin daily to achieve amazing results whenever they want.
I focus on helping you look and feel like yourself in makeup, not turning regular people super glam. I want to help you create an everyday makeup routine that is simple for you to implement into your lifestyle and aligns with your skincare goals.
Makeup lessons are held on location at the Tacoma Nordstrom MAC counter, The Tacoma Mall Sephora or the Tacoma Ulta.
