Hey Curlfriend!
It's supposed to be fall and I'm not complaining but it is still really summery outside. I hope you've had a chance to enjoy the weather I'm trying but I'm also really ready for chunky sweater and soup.
Anyhoo there is no time like the present and now is the perfect time to prepare. If your hair is feeling a bit dry that isn't going to get better going into the winter months. Olaplex has a new hydrating hair mask out and I actually really like it. I've incorporated it into a new service that you can try on the Happy Hour Menu this month.
This month on the Happy Hour Menu there are all the goodies to get your hair life in check.
- Hydration
- Scalp Care
- Curl Strength
Check it out and get these services 20-25% off this month only. During your appointment we can discuss your goals and get a plan together to make it happen.
How often should you...
Have a trim
I recommend once a season depending on your goals, for instance if you wear a shorter style then you may need to come in monthly to maintain your shape. Likewise if you are trying to grow your hair out you may want to come in only every six months. I wouldn't go longer than six months though. This is when you've lost all shape, the ends are now velcro and you are living in a bun, hiding from the next wash day.
Wash your hair
This is an individual thing because how you live your life is a factor. Do you swim, go to the gym and sweat heavy, do HVAC work, perform surgery? How do you wear your hair? Wearing it out in a wash and go is going to require more maintenance and washing than a protective style like my twists. Do you wear a head wrap? That will also keep your hair clean so you can go longer in between washes.
Wash your hair when it is dirty TO YOU. If you can smell your hair and it's not awesome wash it. If your scalp is gross and itchy wash it then pay attention to how long it takes to get there again. This is how you figure you and your hair out. Pay attention to your own needs and habits.
Do a clarifying treatment
You may not NEED to do one. Remember everything on the internet about curly hair does not necessarily pertain to you. Do you have well water, old pipes or hard water? If yes then you may benefit from a Malibu C clarifying treatment once a quarter. This will remove mineral build up in the hair that can make the hair heavy, dry and rough feeling.
Product buildup is easily removed from the surface of your scalp and hair with your regular shampoo and conditioner as long as you are washing your hair thoroughly. If you have white stuff on your scalp that gets itchy when your scalp gets wet you don't need to clarify you need to balance the pH of you scalp and stop letting your hair air dry or stop living in a wet bun.
Try an ACV rinse or switch to the AG Care Balance and Boost shampoo and conditioner.
Ok well that's it for this month I hope this was helpful. I hope to see you soon.
